Italian Fashion - Fendi Spring Summer 2008

Italian Fashion is great because of the variety of imaginative designs presented for the same season. The underlying theme remains the same but each designer presents something unique and develops that theme over numerous outfits creating something that will work for just about anyone and any occasion. Fendi is all about colors. It is a play on the rectangle with natural stones and fabrics to create a bright yet structured diversion from the basic outfit. Most often the colors are on accessories but can find themselves on borders and hemlines. Every time I see a Fendi outfit it reminds me of Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise in “A Few Good Men.”

“I notice you're wearing your Class A appearance in dress uniform for court today.”

“You can’t handle the truth!!!”

The outfits are a combination of “The Jetson’s” loosely combined with the Woodstock era. The shoulders seem to have wings and a tight waist evidencing the hourglass figure. The Woodstock influence brings in flowing ankle length skirts in cotton and silk. Tie die patterns are prominent. I am not sure how the Peacock tail ended up in some of the patterns. Perhaps experimental new drugs designed for the 23rd century.

The final group of designs would have been fit for a young Mortisha Adams. I am not sure how they fit into the traditional Fendi but are somehow intriguing.

Fendi Fall Winter 2007/2008 – Italian Design for HOT WOMEN!

The Italian designer’s understanding of the female body and what is sensual always amazes me. The designs seem to accentuate femininity, expanding in space and dominating all around. I always wonder how us poor mortal men stand a chance when women are supplied with such an arsenal of weapons. Fendi’s 2007/2008 Fall and Winter collection is a combination small, medium and heavy arms giving the femme fatale a definite edge in the battle of the sexes.

Fendi presents a series of wool and knitted outfits along with fur and heavy fabric coats, wraps and shawls. Usually winter outdoor wear will be bulky, rendering the wearers beauty invisible, hidden under layers of warmth. Fendi has taken these warm pelts and fabrics and formed them compliment the apparent feminine vulnerability. The furs are chosen for their color and texture blending with the woman sporting these coats. It can be difficult to identify where her long hair ends and the fur begins.

Leather is always a good choice for winter wear. Unfortunately not all designers are able to create a functional outfit in leather. Fendi has pulled this one off with both the short aggressive and the long professional looks.

Heavier winter fabrics are not easily adapted for a formfitting line. Fendi accomplishes the trick with knitted wools laced with elastic fibers and belts. These are the spandex of wool. Nothing baggy here ladies. These are hot and sensual! I surrender.

Fendi – Italian Women’s Fashion Spring Summer 2007

The Italian Fashion group Fendi is best known for its accessories. Fendi has a wide range of accessories from shoes and bags to belts, jewelry, and household goods. The designs are traditional cuts with contemporary patterns and fabrics. I usually do not think of Fendi when considering shopping with Raffaella but a few things caught my eye this year. The 2007 Spring and Summer line picks up the 60s themes of the more traditional hippy. Flared tubes with stiff fabrics in bright and shiny colors are the recurring elements. The outfits all are super short but this follows the summer concept of beach and casual evening attire. The shoes are spiked sandals with leather latches. Purses are small and compact, again with the bright and shiny color schemes.

I like the flared tube short dresses. The lines are clean and playfully provocative. I guess it is the Easter Season, with colors of white and pink with lots of shiny designs, that makes me like these designs. I also appreciate the short skirts, even though I can imagine it is very difficult to wear anything this short, and solid lines. Perhaps the trick is to use these as covers, to and from the beach.

If there were a color that dominates the line it would be purple. When the color is purple the fabrics are softer tending toward knits. Big belts in shiny black leather and silver buckles complete the look.

All said and done, I like the look. I would love to see Raffaella with some of these designs but am not sure I would be as happy if she wore them out in public other than in a very summer atmosphere. The shoes are completely in line with my taste. The spikes and a minimal support structure around the foot let the feet shine in their own right while elongating the legs. The bags are too small. I would think that it would be a constant battle of “Where is the purse?” Finally I like the large and shiny belts. This is more true with the short skirts. I think that evidence the rest of the outfit.
