Women’s guide to elegance according to Alberta Ferretti

Traveling creates a problem difficult to solve for today’s woman. How can today’s woman dress elegantly with only one suitcase in tow? Alberta Ferretti, an established Italian designer, shares her ideas. Many believe that Alberta Ferretti is an “ethereal Goddess of glamour and grace.” I would not go to those extremes but the Alberta Ferretti line is always among the top producers in the Pret a Porter market segment. So she is good, perhaps even great.

Alberta Ferretti indicates five items that the elegant woman must carry with her. Obviously, three pairs of shoes count only as one item. Ms. Ferretti suggests that platform shoes are a must. These must be augmented with a pair of inter toe sandals and a pair of spikes.

The second item is the trench. She feels that it is elegant and appropriate for almost any occasion. Ms. Ferretti does not intend a trench coat “al Colombo”. Her 2007 Spring and Summer and the Fall Winter 2008 Pret a Port designs elaborate on the trench outfit. Some trench dresses button down the front while others overlay. She believes the trench is appropriate for both day and eveningwear.

The third item is a business Pantsuit or Tailleur. A Tailleur is the perfect compliment to any wardrobe. It can be worn in the most formal of occasions and simply removing the jacket or changing the blouse it can become a semi-casual outfit perfect for shopping, visiting friends or early evening drinks.

The fourth and fifth items are blouses. Ms. Ferretti suggests a chiffon blouse for more formal occasions and jersey for the more casual. The blouse is what creates the variety of combinations, so choose well.
