Italian Women’s Fashion – Dolce & Gabbana Fall Winter 2007 2008

Metal like fabrics are the theme tying together most of the top women’s fashion designers for the Fall and Winter 2007 2008 collection. Some have done it well; others have birthed horrendous monstrosities. The Dolce & Gabbana Fall Winter line combines the futuristic metal fabrics with their traditional cut to create a new look. The Dolce & Gabbana woman has the class Grace Kelly and the aggressive strength of a futuristic feminine hero. The stereotype of the future woman is a perfect body clad in skintight leather or elastic fabrics. The Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 07/08 Women’s line allows every woman to enter the XXI century without undergoing years of plastic surgery.

A closer look reveals a collage of traditional traits on modern fabrics. The waist belt covers the entire soft area of the belly with a rigid surface. Other designs have corsets, almost hidden, integrated into the outfit. These little tricks model and shape the hourglass figure.

The metal like fabrics are the perfect material for a “what you see is what you get” designer look. They are shaped when the outfit is made and hold their preformed design. The downside is that sitting, while wearing one of these jewels, may not be an option.

The colors are vibrant. The bright and shiny synthetic color demands attention. The slinky silk blouses could easily be interwoven with gold or silver strands. Who knows what will happen at airport security?

My favorite combinations of the antique and futuristic are the darker fabrics with embroidered lace. Somehow they combine the Gothic and the Jetson’s in a perfectly balanced, aggressive and sensuous look of Grace Kelly.

As one of the famous spoiled fashionista would say, “These are hot!”

A very impressive collection for those females with the perfect body. Let's hope that those not so perfect bodies will not attempt to wear these styles.
