Italy - Weather Update Summer 2006
written by David Anderson limited rights reserved ViewItaly.blogspot.com
The Italian national weather forecasting agency has spoken, a cooler summer this year. Nothing like the summer of 2003, instead temperatures will be in less than or in line with the medium temperature.
For those traveling to Italy this means that you will have to verify the weather conditions before leaving. In years like this it is possible to have chilly nights, even in southern Italy, up to the end of July. This type of temperature forecasts also means that southeastern Italy can have a great deal of rain.
My experience tells me that vacations on the islands will be fine, even more pleasant than usual because it will be slightly cooler while Puglia could be in the 50 f. at night with extended periods of rain. The cities should be a great destination as the cooler temperatures and wet conditions will clean the air and generally make for better conditions.
In any case be sure to bring along a sweater and perhaps a windbreaker.
